About the Workshop

Skill level: Beginners are welcome with some hands-on experience in your medium, up to intermediate and advanced artists.

Materials used: Pastel and oil

Overview:

How important is “Value” in a successful painting you may ask? From beginners to advanced students, value seems to be one of the most difficult concepts for artists to articulate in paint. I will teach you how to take this very foundational and easy-to-understand concept into the more difficult task of conveying the idea in your artwork. I will show you how to take this basic concept beyond its rather straightforward definition and fold it into your process. I will be showing you the dynamic nature of dark passages in your paintings how to create movement in the shadows, to how to highlight sunlit passages with dynamic color instead of flat light.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, a beginner (with at least basic hands-on knowledge of your medium), or a more experienced painter looking for a way to step up the quality of your work, this workshop will be incredibly valuable to your practice.
